Food is the soul for body. Healthy food keeps our body and mind ready for all the challenges in life. With the increase in the pace of our life and lifestyle changes, the future generations are moving towards a lifestyle of junk food and unhealthy food choices. It is our duty as parents to inculcate good eating habits and help them to make healthier choices. All of us remember our childhood days when we savored the sweetness of Ice apples( thathi munjelu), mangoes in summer; the tartness of plums and jamuns (Jawa plum) in monsoons; the sweet custard apples and chickoo and the humble guava which has 10 times the vitamin c compared to any citrus fruit.
These seasonal fruits help us to get our seasonal dose of the essential vitamins and minerals which help us to fight seasonal infections. The junk food culture is responsible for obesity, type 2 diabetes , cholesterol and many other health issues both in children and adults.
